KATHMANDU, Dec 6: The Supreme Court has denied issuing an interim order on a writ petition filed by Shivapujan Raya Yadav challenging the Election Commission decision to invalid his candidacy.

Following the decision, the candidacy of Yadav from the left alliance for Sarlahi-4 representing CPN (Maoist Center) has automatically become invalid.

A joint bench of Justices Deepak Raj Joshi and Dambar Bahadur Shahi issued a verdict stating that the apex court will decide during its final verdict.

Challenging the EC's decision to cancel his nomination, Yadav had moved the Supreme Court on November 12 seeking its intervention.

The EC had canceled Yadav's candidacy saying that a passport forgery case against Yadav is pending at the Special Court.

Yadav in his petition filed at the Supreme Court has made the EC, the District Election Office Sarlahi and Nepali Congress parliamentary candidate from Sarlahi constituency 4 Ganesh Prasad Singh as defendants.
