SC demands written response from RSP leaders in a contempt of court case

A division bench of SC Justices Binod Sharma and Mahesh Sharma Poudel on Tuesday ordered the leaders to submit the written response in a contempt of court case filed by advocate Anupam Bhattarai.

KATHMANDU, Dec 10: The Supreme Court has demanded a written response from the leaders of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) including Swarnim Wagle, the former vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission.


A division bench of SC Justices Binod Sharma and Mahesh Sharma Poudel on Tuesday ordered the leaders to submit the written response in a contempt of court case filed by advocate Anupam Bhattarai.

Bhattrai in his petition claimed that the leaders of the RSP made statements leading  to contempt of court. In the case, 20 people, including all the MPs of RSP, have been made opponents. The petitioner claims that the lawmakers spread unfounded propaganda regarding the court and judges, which has led to contempt of court.


The petition registered in the SC accuses that the central members of the RSP made remarks in contempt of court during their speech in Pokhara.
