KATHMANDU, June 26: The Supreme Court (SC) has given permission to review its earlier verdict on a tax evasion case related to the Bhatbhateni Supermarket.
A full bench of justices Tej Bahadur KC, Bam Kumar Shrestha and Manoj Kumar Sharma granted the permission to review the Bhatbhateni tax evasion case on Thursday. With the permission of the apex court, hearing of the case will now be conducted from the beginning once again.

Earlier on January 13, 2020, a joint bench of the Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JBR and Prakash Kumar Dhungana had passed the verdict that Bhatbhateni had forged a fake VAT bill and that it was guilty of tax evasion. Bhatbhateni was found liable to pay more than Rs 1 billion rupees to the government.
A review petition was filed by Bhatbhateni at the apex court demanding revision of the verdict on the tax evasion case on February 15, 2021.
