Saudi man held for attempted rape at Thamel hotel

KATHMANDU, Aug 10: Metropolitan Police Circle office, Lainchaur on Tuesday midnight arrested a fifty-four year old Saudi Arabian man on the charge of allegedly attempting to rape a sixteen-year old girl in a Thamel-based hotel room.

The arrested has been identified as Ibrahim Hasan Siddique (passport no 1721683). He was arrested after the girl called police by dialing 100. The accused man with the help of Dipak Majhi, a staff of Hotel Taima, had called the girl to his hotel room.

"After the girl found that the man was huge, she refused to have sex with him. After this, the man is learnt to have manhandled the girl," DSP Somendra Singh Rathod, chief of Metropolitan Police Circle Office, said adding.

The accused man, according to police, was in Nepal for interviewing migrant workers seeking jobs in Saudi Arabia. Police said they will arrange an Arabic interpreter for further investigation into the man, who has been remanded to police custody by the District Court, Kathmandu on Wednesday.
