SARLAHI, June 7: The District Police Office, Sarlahi has rescued a seven-year-old boy who was abducted from Barhathwa of Sarlahi district two weeks ago.
Rakesh Yadav, son of a cattle trader Pukar Yadav of Barhathwa-6, was rescued from Bairganiya of India with the help of Indian police, informed Superintendent of Police (SP) Uttam Raj Subedi of District Police Office (DPO), Sarlahi.
The toddler had been abducted while he was playing in front of his house nine days ago. The kidnappers had demanded Rs 5 million in ransom from the victim's family.
Police have handed over the child to the family on Wednesday afternoon. He is in good condition.
“We have already indentified those involved in the kidnapping. Some of the suspects have already been arrested, while we are searching for others,” said SP Subedi, adding that the investigation is underway.
Yadav was kidnapped at a time when the police were busy in election security. Following the abduction, a team led by SP himself investigated the incident and rescued the child.
Eight individuals have already been arrested on the charge of kidnapping the minor. Some of those involved in the abduction of the toddler were arrested from India, informed the DPO.
