Funeral procession for Saptari incident victims begins

SAPTARI, March 11: The funeral procession of the five persons who died as the result of the Saptari incident on Monday began from Rajbiraj today. Thousands of commoners have partaken in the funeral procession.

Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav, Sadbhawan Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato and Nepal Sadbhawana Party chairman Anil Jha arrived in Saptari Saturday morning to pay  last tribute to the five persons who died after sustaining injuries in the clash with the security force that broke out in Saptari on Monday  

There was a huge crowd of people at the Gajendra Chowk of Saptari district who gathered to offer last respect to the dead.

The deceased include Sanjan Mehta, a local of  Maleth-2,  Birendra Mahato, a local of  Maleth-4,  Pitambar Mandal, a local of Maleth-4, Anada Shah, a local of Prasabanni-4 and  Indradev Yadav aka Inar , a local of Jamuni Madhepura

There was a confrontation between the UDMF cadres and the security personnel as the former tried to move forward to disrupt the political program organized CPN-UML on Monday in Saptari.

CPN-UML began what it calls “Mechi-Mahakali National Campaign” from Kakarvitta of Jhapa district on last Saturday. As part of its Mechi-Mahakari National Campaign, it had organized a mass meeting in Saptari.

UDMF cadres staged protest against CPN-UML in the same area on Monday. The situation became tense after they tried to move forward to disrupt the political program organized by CPN-UML.

After the Saptari incident, CPN-UML had put off its national campaign anticipating security threat for three days. It has resumed its campaign from Friday on the same day when Federal Alliance imposed a general strike.
