Sankata Club to launch youth academy

KATHMANDU, June 30: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) along with “A” division football club, Sankata, and Nexus School have reached a tripartite agreement to launch a football academy. 

The agreement was signed by ANFA’s Vice President and Coordinator of Youth Development Committee, Upendraman Singh, Acting President of Sankata Football Club, Surendra Sirkhakar and Principal of Nexus School, RB Katuwal over a meeting at ANFA headquarters in Satdobato on Tuesday. 

According to the  agreement, a total of seven players from Sankata club and Nexus School respectively will participate in Sankata-Nexus Youth Football Academy program in the first year. The program will be organized by the Sankata Club. 

Furthermore, selected players will be provided with a scholarship by Nexus School. As stated in the agreement, as many as 14 young players from Sankata Club will participate in the second year of the program.

Earlier, the Asian Football Confederation had made it mandatory to have a youth academy for the licensing of football clubs. So far, the Tribhuwan Army Club is the only club to receive the license from AFC in the country. The Army, Nepal Police and APF have been running their youth academy for quite some time. Apart from the clubs formed by the government departments, Sankata Club is the first “A” division football club to launch its youth academy.
