Sajilo Marmat Sewa: One Stop Maintenance Solution

KATHMANDU: ‘Sajilo Marmat Sewa’ (SMS) is Nepal’s first one stop maintenance solution for business organizations and households in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur. According to the press statement released by Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM), the service officially started from June 20.

The service includes installation and maintenance of plumbing, electrical, electronic appliances, computer repairs and computer networking. SMS aims to provide professional maintenance service covering a range of services under a single roof.

SMS has positioned itself as a convenient means for customers to solve all maintenance related problems. It also claims to be extremely reliable and responsive to customers’ requirements. The services can be acquired in two ways -- annual maintenance contract and on call. Strong network of technicians spread throughout the valley ensure quick and reliable service.

The journey of SMS started during an entrepreneurship course of MBA at KUSOM. One of the founders of SMS, Sujeet Regmi, learned that customers have been facing severe problems trying to acquire maintenance services in Kathmandu. On the other hand, technicians do not have the right channels to acquire customers. Thus, an idea emerged out of a problem.

The idea was validated when it won an Intra- University business idea competition organized by Kathmandu University.

As a reward, the idea was incubated at IdeaStudio, a program aired in Nepal Television. This way, three enthusiastic KU graduates decided to start their entrepreneurial journey so as to solve people’s problems.

Currently, the company has built a network of more than 100 technicians, who have already served more than 100 households in the Kathmandu Valley. Simultaneously, SMS has also been signing annual maintenance contract with different organizations.

In the future, the company plans to build a digital platform using web application and mobile application to facilitate the customers and technicians alike in order to solve a prevalent problem using technology.
