KATHMANDU, March 8: The cabinet has transferred controversial General Manager (GM) Dolindra Prasad Sharma of the state-owned publishing house, Sajha Prakashan, to the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation (MoMCPA). The cabinet has also appointed a new GM at Sajha Prakashan.

According to the MoMCPA, the cabinet on March 3 decided to transfer Sharma to the MoMCPA on deputation until another decision is taken. Interestingly, Sharma was appointed as Sajha GM by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, which sacked Sharma in September, 2017 on the charges of multiple irregularities. However, Sharma moved the Supreme Court, which issued a stay order not to implement the decision of the ministry.

The cabinet also decided to appoint under-secretary Rishi Ram Pangeni of MoMCPA as the new GM of Sajha Prakashan, according to the MoMCPA, which dispatched the letter of transfer and new GM appointment to the Sajha Prakashan on March 5.

Lawmaker Bijaya Subba, an elected member of the Sajha Prakashan Management Board, said that the cabinet decision was a good move in favor of the Sajha Prakashan. “The decision should have been taken earlier. Though it is late, the decision is praiseworthy,” he added. "The cabinet decision is an official action against GM Sharma."

Meanwhile, the seven-member Sajha Prakashan Management Board is preparing to relieve GM Sharma from the post. “He must be sacked and an independent probe into Sajha irregularities should be carried out,” said the officials at the Sajha Prakashan.
