LAMJUNG, Oct 30: The commercial SAFA Tempo transport service has kick started for the first time in the district so as to facilitate town dwellers.

The transport entrepreneurs in Besisahar have started operating the tempo service. The service will run within the Besisahar town, entrepreneur, Narayan Prasad Ghimire said.

The SAFA tempo translated as 'clean tempo' is an electric three wheeler. It underwent a successful test drive on Saturday transporting four passengers from Manange Chautara of Besisahar to Gaunsahar's Bhakunde area.

Bhakunde's local, Ganesh Kandel, said the tempo service has come as a huge relief to passengers who have been facing hardship in finding easy access to transport service. "The vehicles heading to Besisahar are always full and we do not find seats, and during the return trip the buses say the trip is only up to Bhakunde and it is difficult to find buses," Kandel confided, and added, "Now that tempo service has come into operation we have heaved a sigh of relief."

Following a successful test drive, Ghimire said regular tempo service will now come into operation after determining minimum rate of the transport fare. RSS
