SAARC Finance minister's meeting beginning on Friday

KATHMANDU, Aug 27: The meeting of the finance ministers from the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries is going to be held on coming Friday in Colombo, Sri Lanka.



According to the Finance Ministry, the meeting will focus on South Asian Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA), protection of investment and building economic association.



Finance Minister Shankar Prasad Koirala is leaving here for Colombo on Thursday by leading a Nepali delegation to take part in the meeting. The SAARC countries´ finance secretaries shall meet on Thursday. The decisions of the Thursday meeting will be endorsed by the ministerial-level meeting. Finance Secretary Shanta Raj Subedi is scheduled to leave for there to attend the meeting. [break]



Chief of the International Economic Cooperation and Coordination Division Madhu Kumar Marasini and Under Secretary Kailashraj Pokhrel have already been in Colombo to take part in the SAARC Development Fund in connection with the preparations for the secretary-level meeting. According to Under Secretary Pokhrel, a meeting of council of Board of Directors´ will conclude in Colombo today.
