SAARC Artists Camp in Nepal

KATHMANDU: SAARC Artists Camp 2017 has started from Friday with more than 30 artists from SAARC nations coming together to celebrate the cultural diversity in SAARC countries.

KATHMANDU: SAARC Artists Camp 2017 has started from Friday with more than 30 artists from SAARC nations coming together to celebrate the cultural diversity in SAARC countries.

As per the press statement released by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, this is the seventh series of SAARC Cultural Centre Artists Camp. It is the first time Nepal is hosting the camp.


Minister of Culture Jitendra Narayan Dev inaugurated the event organized the by Chairperson of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Shankar Prasad Adhikari. Speaking on the occasion, Jitendra expressed that these kinds of events strengthen the brotherhood between artists in SAARC nations.

Attending the ceremony were few prominent Nepali artists, including Erina Tamrakar, Udaya Charan Shrestha, SCC Suman, Jyoti Prakash BK, Sunita Rana, Jasmine Rajbhandari, Namrata Singh and Shuva Joshi.


The Camp is scheduled to be held till Monday. An exhibition is also scheduled on Monday to showcase the works of all participating artists in the SAARC Art Camp.
