RAUTAHAT, Jan 23: Former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the election of local level will be held by mid-May.


Speaking at Bariyarpur of Rautahat district with some journalists, Deuba claimed that the country will hold the local election during that time.

He also said that the tabled constitution amendment bill will be approved without any further amendment. “We are generating majority in house and it will definitely help us to approve the bill without further amendment,” Deuba said. “It will be passed with a two-thirds majority.”


Former PM Deuba was in Rautahat to attend a marriage ceremony.  


He added that the ruling parties are attempting to garner CPN-UML's support to pass the amendment bill.


He also said that the demands of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) will be addressed by the amendment.
