KATHMANDU, June 15: Leaders of ruling parties agreed to postpone the local level elections in Province 2. The leaders of the ruling parties agreed to postpone the elections in the province during a meeting with Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) leaders. The meeting is underway at Prime Minister's Office in Singha Durbar.
According to Home Minister Janardan Sharma, the meeting is underway and has been discussing on when to hold the local level elections in Province 2 but has agreed to postpone it. He informed that the elections on other three provinces, 1, 5 and 7 would be held on June 28 as declared earlier.
According to leaders, the cabinet would take the decision of postponing the elections on Province 2 by Thursday evening.
With a day remaining before the date for filing candidacy nominations for the second phase of local level elections, the ruling coalition agreed to postpone the election in the province.
The RJPN had been insisting for constitution amendment prior to the elections in Province 2.
