KATHMANDU, Feb 18: The meeting of the ruling coalition held on Friday morning concluded without reaching any conclusion regarding the ratification of the US-funded Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact agreement.
The next meeting of the ruling alliance has been scheduled for Sunday to discuss the MCC project, according to CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal. As the ruling alliance could not find any common ground in today’s meeting, the MCC will also not be tabled in the parliament meeting scheduled for 1PM today. Prior to the coalition meeting, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Chairman Upendra Yadav had held a separate meeting to discuss the MCC project earlier today.
Although the coalition has been holding discussions on the MCC project for the past few days, the political parties have not been able to reach a mutual agreement.
