KATHMANDU, Jan 31: Rukesh Maharjan, Shiva Thapa and Prince Dahal emerged victorious in the U-17 boy’s event at 13th Nationwide Krishna Mohan Memorial Open Badminton Tournament on Monday.
In the matches played at Armed Police Force (APF)’s court, Halchowk, Tribhuvan Army Club’s Rukesh defeated Dev Raj Rana 21-15, 21-13. Similarly in the next match, Nepalgunj Badminton Academy’s Shiva overcame the challenge of Kailali’s Yogesh Khadka 14-21, 22-20, 23-21 while Prince of APF registered 21-9, 21-12 win over Pushpa Thagunna of Kailali.

Similarly in other matches of the same event, Mohan Aire of Kanchanpur beat Ujjwal Pokharel of Morang 21-11, 21-19 while Bishal Khadka of Sunsari defeated Zest Badminton Academy’s Barun Shi 19-21, 22-20, 21-11. In the last match of the day, Army’s Prafulla Maharjan overcame Rabi Chand of Kailali 21-8, 21-4.
Similarly in the U-17 boy’s doubles event, the pair of Sunil Joshi and Ramesh Shrestha of APF registered win of 24-22, 21-11 over Kanchanpur’s pair comprising of Mohan Aire and Chiran Shrestha. In the same event, the pair of Gaurabh Dahal and Sushil Shrestha of Nepal Police Club overcame the challenge of Mahottari’s pair of Barun Dahal and Sushil Shrestha 21-9, 21-11.
In other matches, Annapurna Badminton Club’s pair comprising of Ram Kumar Baniya and Pradip Baniya, Police’s pair of Sunil Barahi and Sabin Dhungel also emerged victorious.
