CHITWAN, Sept 7: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chief Whip Kabindra Burlakoti has urged the government to officially declare Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality in Gorkha and Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality in Chitwan as disaster-hit areas following extensive damage caused by floods.
Burlakoti, who represents Gorkha-2 in the House of Representatives, said the two local units were facing a severe crisis and called for immediate government intervention.

The government has already declared Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and several local units in Tanahun as disaster-affected areas. Burlakoti argued that Shahid Lakhan and Ichchhakamana should also be included on the list given the scale of flood damage.
Speaking to the media, Burlakoti said several areas of the two local units had been severely affected by the floods. He stressed the need for the government to formally recognize them as disaster-hit areas and ensure that affected communities receive necessary humanitarian assistance.
