SURUNGA (JHAPA), April 17: A cooperative institution has provided six million rupees to a snake bite treatment centre set up at Kotihom of Kankaimai Municipality-4.
Sahara Nepal Saving and Credit Cooperatives Limited, Birtamod provided the amount under its corporate social responsibility programme, according to Mahendra Kumar Giri, the Executive Director of the Cooperative.
Snake bites claim 10 lives in Dang in a year
The snake bite treatment centre has been set up with the support of Nepal Red Cross Society, Jhapa, the Kankaimai Municipality and the Kankai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The centre would have five beds and a life support system. It would be run from the Karmayog building at Kotihom and will start providing services from mid-May.
Earlier, the cooperative provided Rs 1.7 million to Nepal Red Cross Society, Jhapa for procuring a component machine for use by the blood transfusion centre at Birtamod under its corporate social responsibility programme. RSS
