Rs 300 spent on Sanjel's wedding

Founder of Samata School, Uttam Sanjel got married to Kala Adhikari on Monday at the Guhyeshwari Temple, Kathmandu. Adhikari is a health assistant at Samata Hospital. The entire wedding was summed up at Rs 300, where prerequisites like sindur (vermillion power), pote (glass beads), and garland were bought for Rs 25, Rs 75, and Rs 200 respectively.

In the ceremony, neither of the newly wed’s families were present. Sanjel admitted that the exclusion was to avoid monetary negotiation during the marriage ceremony. However, wedding costs of the bride's side will now be used for the more needy patients. The groom's side has also taken a stand against dowry.

The marriage was completed within five minutes with 10 witnesses. The marriage ceremony ended at an even sweeter note when the newlywed distributed lodoos to the guests present at the event. The one-kilogram ladoos was sponsored by comedian duo Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya.

Uttam set an example in the field of education and health by providing services at Samata School and Samata Hospital for just Rs 100.
