BHIMDATTANAGAR, September 3: Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Kamal Thapa, has said his party will enter into an electoral alliance with nationalist forces in the parliamentary and state assembly elections.

Addressing a news conference here today, he said his party will enter into election alliance with nationalist forces other than the Nepali Congress and the CPN (Maoist Centre). He termed the present coalition government in which these two parties are the major partners as a surrendering government.

He also cast doubts over the intention of the government, saying although it had earlier decided to hold both the parliamentary and the state assembly elections on the same date, it later changed its decision and announced the elections in two phases.

The RPP chairman also said that this vacillation also put the Election Commission's credibility into question. He added that the Election Commission should have consulted with all the parties on this issue.

Expressing concern over big corruption scams coming into light, chairman Thapa said his party would create a formidable public opinion against the rising corruption in all sectors.

He called on the government to make clear what it was doing regarding the corruption said to have taken place in the purchase of land for the Nepal Oil Corporation.

Thapa also accused the government of trying to cover up big corruption scandals instead of taking action against the wrong-doers. "Even the leaders of the major parties are involved in this cover up," he charged.

The RPP chairman blamed the 'anti-Hindu forces' and not the internal dispute and dissatisfaction of splitting his party. He further said his party was preparing to organize programmes as mass assemblies and the Mechi-Mahakali Awakening Campaign in all seven provinces. RSS
