RPP proposes probe of 14 home ministers over visit visa controversy

KATHMANDU, June 19: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has proposed an investigation into 14 current and former home ministers in connection with the visit visa controversy.


Speaking in the House of Representatives on Thursday, RPP Chief Whip Gyanendra Shahi called for a probe into ministers ranging from former Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula to incumbent Ramesh Lekhak.

Shahi stated that the visit visa issue is not limited to any single political party but is a matter of national concern, urging all parties to unite on this issue.


He warned that the RPP will continue its protest unless a parliamentary investigation committee is formed to look into the matter.


Shahi also urged the Speaker not to proceed with House proceedings forcibly despite their protest. As the session continued, Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmakers surrounded the rostrum in protest, while RPP members boycotted the meeting and walked out.
