BIRATNAGAR, Feb 26: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) will not exit from the Province 1 government immediately. After the formation of a new political equation for the presidential election, RPP decided to exit from the federal and provincial governments. Based on the same decision, RPP has already exited from the Bagmati Province government. However, it is said that the party will not exit from the Province 1 government immediately.

Leader of RPP Province 1 Parliamentary Party and Minister for Industry, Agriculture and Cooperatives Bhakti Sitaula said that he will decide on the government only after discussion with the party leaders. He said that since the situation of Province 1 is different from other provinces, a decision will be reached after discussion.

"Province 1 is in a special situation compared to other provinces," he said, "We do not want instability to happen because of us."

After the meeting of the RPP Central Performance Committee on Saturday, ministers including Rajendra Lingden, who was the Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister in the federal government from the RPP, have resigned.

Sitaula became a minister from the RPP in the Province 1 government led by Hikmat Kumar Karki.

As many as 47 votes are required for a majority in the 93-member Province 1 Assembly. The RPP, which won two direct seats with the support of the CPN-UML in the province, is close to the UML. If UML and RPP stand together, they will get 46 votes. The alliance of Nepali Congress-Maoist Center, Unified Socialist and JSP (excluding the Speaker) also has 46 seats in the provincial assembly.
