BHAKTAPUR, July 9: Rastriya Prajantra Party Nepal (RPP-N) Chairman Kamal Thapa has accused major political parties of prolonging the transitional period in the country to fulfill their own vested interests.

Speaking at a program in Bhaktapur on Saturday, Thapa ruled out the first draft of the new constitution by August 31, the new deadline set while extending the Constituent Assembly tenure by three months on May 28.[break]

On the occasion, the RPP chairman described the course the country has taken in the aftermath of the mass uprising of 2006 as being faulty, and demanded that the country mend its ways, opting for fresh elections.

Saying that his party has always wanted to see the country as a Hindu state with a monarchy, Thapa called on all of his party workers to thrive for the cause.
