RPP firm on its amendment stance

KATHMANDU, March 15: Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Kamal Thapa has said his party is firm on its previous stance regarding the constitution amendment. 


Addressing an orientation programme held by the party in view of the local level election, at the party office here today, chairman Thapa proposed going for the local level election by putting on hold the province demarcation issue as it is unrelated to the local election. 


Thapa, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development, said the issues related to language and representation in the National Assembly could be carried ahead after general revision. 


"Giving an outlet to the country by enforcing the constitution is the need of the hour," he said, adding that election was the most appropriate medium of democratic exercise and nobody should stay away from it. He further said the government was ready to be accommodative to the maximum extent and urged all sides to forget the bitterness of the past and jump into the election mode to build and save the country. 


Party chairman Thapa also directed the party cadres and leaders to create environment conducive for election at the local level. He also urged the party central leaders to go to their respective districts immediately to prepare for the election. 
He briefed the party central leaders from all the 75 districts about his meeting with the Prime Minister and discussions they held, joint-spokesman for the party, Mohan Shrestha, said. RSS
