KATHMANDU, Feb 25: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chair, Kamal Thapa, has called for investigating the assets of the politicians and bureaucrats, among others, since 1991 by forming a high-level investigation commission for checking corruption.
Speaking in an interaction organized by Reporters Club Nepal here on Monday, the RPP Chair said the government should cooperate in allowing this commission to carry out its works in an independent and fair manner.
He also stressed on the need of nationalizing the assets kept in foreign banks by Nepali nationals and immediately freezing the bank accounts of people suspected of money laundering, calling for taking legal action against people indulging in illegal transactions.
He also urged the government to realize all taxes including the capital gains tax due with the Ncell as per the Supreme Court order. Those people implicated in the wide-body aircraft purchase scam and the tax evasion scam should also be punished.
Calling for harsh action against the elements attempting to disintegrate the country, the RPP Chair urged the government to take diplomatic initiatives to bring back the encroached upon Nepali territory including at Kalapani, Lipulek and Susta, among other places. He also demanded making a review of the 1950 Treaty of Peace and Friendship, and regulating the open border.
He reiterated on the need of promptly organising an all-sides round table conference to establish a system that accommodates all political forces including the institution of monarchy. He also demanded that a national referendum be held to directly collect people's opinion on federalism.
