JAJARKOT, Oct 5: A rice depot in the district has run out of stock in the midst of Dashain festival.

As there is not a single grain of rice in Ghat depot, locals from four VDCs of the district will not get rice this festive season.

The depot serves locals of rural Nayakwada, Sakla, Rokayagaun and Ramidanda VDCs.

Although the government had allocated a quota of 1000 quintals rice for the depot, the supply has not reached yet.

Employees from Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) have returned to the district headquarters after all the rice was sold out.  The VDCs are reeling under acute rice shortage with Dashain already started after the depot ran out of stock.

Teacher Gorakh Bahadur Singh at the Nayakdanda-based Aishwarya Secondary School told Republica Online that locals reaching the depot have been forced to return empty-handed.
