Rewati Raman Khanal, former chief secretary of Narayanhiti Palace, passes away

KATHMANDU, Oct 28: Rewati Raman Khanal, former chief secretary of the Narayanhiti Palace, passed away at the age of 88.

KATHMANDU, Oct 28: Rewati Raman Khanal, former chief secretary of the Narayanhiti Palace, passed away at the age of 88.


Khanal died at his Kalimati-based residence on Tuesday evening, according to Suraj Khanal, one of his relatives. Late Khanal was suffering from diabetes and asthma.

He also bagged Madan Puraskar, the famed literary award. Khanal was also a law expert. He penned several books on Nepali law. 'Muluki Ain, Kehi Bibechana (The Civil Code, Some Critiques)', 'Kar Sambandhi Kanoon (Laws Related to Tax)', and 'Nepalko Kanooni Itihaasko Ruparekha (An Outline of Legal History of Nepal)' are some of the many books on law that he authored.


Born in Tanahu district, Khanal served in the then Royal Palace Service for 35 years. He is survived by his spouse, two sons and a daughter.
