KATHMANDU, July 8: Out of 334 local levels that saw elections take place in the second phase of local level elections on June 28, results of only four levels are awaited.
According to Spokesperson of Election Commission (EC) Surya Prasad Sharma, the entire vote count in 31 districts has been completed. Currently, the vote count is ongoing in four districts.
Government classifies local levels into four categories
As per the latest update, CPN-UML has won chiefs in 148 local levels while Nepali Congress has emerged victorious in 121 local levels and CPN (Maoist Centre) in 38 seats.
Likewise, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal has won chiefs in eight seats while Nepal Loktantrik Forum Nepal in six local levels, Rastriya Prajatantra party (RPP) in four seats and the candidates of Rastriya Janamorcha have won the chiefs in two local levels.
The EC also said that three independent candidates have emerged victorious in three levels.
According to the Joint Election Operation Centre (JEOC) of the EC, the results of 134 levels in Province no. 1; 109 levels in Province no. 5 and 87 levels in Province no. 7 were announced.
Currently, the vote count is going on in Arjundhara Municipality, Jhapa; Biratnagar Metropolitan City; Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City and Punarwas Municipality, Kanchanpur district. RSS
