Republica vehicle, employee missing in Trishuli

KATHMANDU, Aug 30: Ganesh Khatiwada of Nepal Republic Media Pvt Ltd has gone missing since Sunday morning when a vehicle carrying Republica and Nagarik dailies fell into the Trishuli River near Benighat, Dhading district.



The vehicle, a Tata mobile (Ba 6 Chha 1975), which was en route to Bhairahawa from Kathmandu, fell 200 feet into the raging river at Bandare at 6 a.m.



Driver Ram Bahadur Gurung and newspaper dispatcher Khatiwada had jumped out of the ill-fated vehicle when it began falling down the hill.



According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle had hit a surface below before plunging into the river. Locals rescued Gurung from the river, but could not find Khatiwada. Gurung is being treated at a local hospital. Nepal Army and Armed Police Force personnel as well as locals are searching Khatiwada.
