The Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has scheduled a new date for holding elections for its executive members for November 26-27.

According to the timetable announced by FNCCI on Wednesday, the 54th AGM and election will be held on November 26-27. Three venues in Kathmandu—FNCCI head office in Teku, Karki Banquet in Babarmahal and Nepal Academy in Kamaladi—have been designated for conducting the election of the executive members.

Samant Kumar Goel, chief of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), the external intelligence agency of India, has arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday afternoon.

A nine-member delegation led by India's RAW chief landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport by an Indian Air Force aircraft at 12:45 PM, according to a source. Goel will be staying here for nine hours, the source said. He is scheduled to hold high-level meetings in Kathmandu. It was not immediately clear about the purpose of his visit.

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) reported a record daily jump of 5,743 coronavirus infections on Wednesdeay, taking Nepal's COVID-19 case tally to 1, 44,872 as cases surged across the country.

Sharing the country's COVID-19 national updates at a virtual press meet, Jageshwar Gautam, the spokesperson for the MoHP, said that 5,743 persons tested positive for COVID-19 while conducting 20,118 PCR tests at various labs across the country in the past one day.

Speaking at a virtual meeting of the First Conference of Nepal-China Belt and Road Cooperation of Political Parties organized by International Department of CPC, China in collaboration with Friends of Silk Road Club Nepal, former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has said that the Trans-Himalayan Railway project under Belt and Road Initiative could be an economic and geopolitical game-changer for Nepal. He also said that the two countries must work together to enhance economic cooperation.

The Historical Rani Pokhari, located at the heart of Kathmandu, was inaugurated on Wednesday. President Bidhya Devi Bhandari inaugurated the renovated monument later in the afternoon.
