KATHMANDU, April 17: A five-day Regional Model UN Conference 2022 has begun at Malla Hotel, Kathmandu on Sunday.
Regional Model UN Conference starts
Organized by the U.S. Embassy Kathmandu and Youth Thinkers’ Society (YTS), a total of 150 participants from South and Central Asian (SCA) region and beyond are set to participate in the MUN conference. They will focus their sessions on climate change, trade, COVID-19 impact on economy, fighting mis-disinformation, and so many other pertinent regional issues.
During the opening ceremony, speakers such as Chewan Rai, YTS Co-founder, Ismail Mamdhod, Director for Social Affairs, SAARC, Navanita Sinha, Head of Office UN Women, including Kelly Keiderling, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka (South and Central Asian Affairs Bureau) highlighted the role youths can play to bring positive change in the society. They encouraged participants to use their diplomatic skill set in the outside world as young leaders.
