TAPLEJUNG, Jan 6: Gold and silver collected from Pathibhara temple in Taplejung have been refined. The Pathibhara Area Development Committee has stated that 98 tola gold and 92 kg silver have been refined on Friday.
According to the executive director of the Committee, Prajin Hangwang, 98.41 tola gold and 92.650 kg of silver have been refined. The committee informed in a press conference held last Thursday that 86.90 tolas of gold has been refined.
178 tolas of gold offered to Pathibhara being auctioned
According to the Pathibhara Area Development Committee, the refining of gold and silver has been started through the local gold and silver traders in association with the Pathibhara Gold and Silver Dealers Association. Chairman of the Committee, Rakhi Thebe, said that the process for selling the refined gold and silver at prevailing rates will be initiated according to the decision of the committee.
The committee has formed a gold and silver management sub-committee under the chairmanship of Shambhu Prasad Gautam. The collected gold and silver committee has been keeping it in a locker at the police station and refining it in the presence of stakeholders.
According to the Pathibhara Area Development Committee, 6,500 copper items weighing 39.775 kg and 16,000 bells weighing 638.100 kg collected from Pathibhara temple are currently in storage.
