KATHMANDU, Nov 23: An attempted attack was reported against CPN-UML leader Mahesh Basnet in Biratnagar, where Gen Z youths threw red paint at the vehicle he was traveling in.
According to SP Kabir Katuwal of Biratnagar police, the incident occurred on Sunday morning while Basnet was heading from Biratnagar to Itahari to attend a Youth Association program. The youths stopped his vehicle on the road and splashed red paint on it.

Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident. They have been identified as Arpit Kunwar, 19, of Biratnagar-2, and Sanjog Gautam, 25, of Biratnagar-1.
Basnet had arrived in Itahari on a Shree Airlines flight scheduled at 10:50 AM to participate in the Youth Association’s public awareness campaign. Police stated that the situation is now under control, and Basnet has already proceeded toward the event venue in Itahari. Security arrangements have been tightened following the incident.
