Rays of hope: COVID-19 recovery numbers rising slowly but steadily

KATHMANDU, May 14: On Friday, the health ministry said that as many as 6,135 more patients got over the coronavirus disease in the past 24 hours. It is the highest ever single-day recovery recorded in the country so far.

KATHMANDU, May 14: On Friday, the health ministry said that as many as 6,135 more patients got over the coronavirus disease in the past 24 hours. It is the highest ever single-day recovery recorded in the country so far. 


The number of recoveries in the past few weeks has been on the rise, the trend shows. If we look at the data released by the ministry, the number of recoveries on May 7 was 2,950 which rose to 3,370 on the next day. Similarly, 4,044 patients won their battle against the deadlier strain of the virus on May 9 while 4,007 others tested negative for the virus on May 10. The number sprang to 5,225 on May 11, the day when Nepal recorded the highest number of new cases --- 9,483. The number of recoveries recorded on May 12 (Wednesday) was 4,444 which jumped to 5,055 on Thursday.

Experts as well as the health ministry officials say that patients normally recover from coronavirus in two weeks under normal circumstances. It means the recovery number tallied on Friday (May 14) resembles the number of infections confirmed before April 30.
