Rasuwa immigration office issues over 10,000 cards to enter Kerung

RASUWA, July 24: More than 10,000 Nepalis have so far acquired entry card to cross the border with China, according to the immigration office, Rasuwa.

The cardholders can commute up to Kerung, the bordering town of China, through the Rasuwagadhi transit without any intervention. Most of the cardholders are from various parts of the district like Uttargaya, Kalika, Naukunda, Gosainkunda and Aakashchhodimngmo and those who have migrated to the district from various districts like Sindhuplachok and Kavrepalanchok.

The card should be renewed yearly. Over 10,000 tourists from more than 20 foreign countries entered China through this route in the past four years, and more than 13,000 tourists entered Nepal from China, the office said. The office collected Rs 8.6 million in revenue by issuing entry cards to the Chinese bordering market in the fiscal year of 2018/19.
