Rape suspect arrested

KHOTANG, Oct 28: Police arrested a 21-year old man of Sakela Rural Municipality in Khotang on the charge of raping a teenage girl of the same district.

The suspect, who had fled the scene after raping the 13-year-old girl, was arrested on Wednesday, nearly three months after the incident by the District Police Office Khotang in coordination with Udaypur Police.

Police stated that the accused raped the girl on July 31 and had been living in his maternal uncle's house in Udayapur. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raj Kumar KC said that the accused has been kept under custody by District Police Office for further investigation.

Rape case filed
A case has been filed against a youth of Panchthar on the charge of sexual assault against a girl from Khotang. Rajendra Limbu of Fidim Municipality-8 has been accused of assaulting a girl at her home where he was taking shelter.

The girl was alone at home while her relatives went to their neighbors' home for Dashain celebration. The victim, who is physically challenged, was assaulted on October 20. DSP Raj Kumar KC confirmed that the complaint was filed a day after the assault.

The complaint states that the door of the house was locked when the victim's relatives returned home. When they broke the lock, Limbu fled the scene. He was caught by the neighbors and has also been charged with a knife attack.
