Ranveer reclusive to play Khilji

Ranveer reclusive to play Khilji

MUMBAI, Oct 24: While playing intense characters, a few actors tend to put in a part of their real selves into the portrayal. They're known to get so deeply involved in the scenes that it takes them a while to shake out of it after the director calls 'cut'.

Ranveer Singh has made room for himself in this category. While working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Bajirao Mastani', he had reportedly locked himself up in a room to gear up to play Peshwa Bajirao Bhalad. With 'Padmavati', in which he plays Sultan Alauddin Khilji, he's gone a few notches higher.

A source close to the project told BT, "Ranveer refrained from making unnecessary conversations with anyone around him. The actor didn't want to be distracted, even momentarily, while adding the final touches to his look. And after getting completely ready, he would walk out of his van, with the body language and attitude that his character, Khiji, demanded. The only person who was kept out of the diktat was obviously his director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali."
