KATHMANDU, July 12: Kathmandu District Court has sentenced two murder convicts to life in prison along with the confiscation of their property after 14 years.
Issuing a verdict today, a bench of district Judge Ramesh Prasad Rijal slapped a life term on Prem Chauhan, 32, of Ramechhap and Mana Raj Gurung of Dolakha along with the confiscation of their property in the Ranibari Murder case.
On July 15, 2002, a couple, who were living on a rented room in a house based in Ranibari, Kathmandu, had been ruthlessly murdered.
According to the official website maintained by Kathmandu District Court, Chauhan and Gurung were sentenced to life in prison for murdering Engineer Hem Bahadur Shrestha and his spouse Anjana Shrestha with a sharp weapon.
The government prosecutor had chargesheeted against Chauhan and Gurung, demanding life imprisonment along with confiscation of their property.
Chauhan and Gurung are now serving jail term in the central jail.
