PALPA, May 24: The Rampur Municipality of Palpa has submitted a request to the Nepal government to purchase 50,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines. Mayor Raman Bahadur Thapa of Rampur Municipality requested the Minister for Health Hridayesh Tripathi to allow them to purchase the vaccines.
According to Mayor Thapa, the municipality sought permission from the health minister to purchase 50,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine at the municipality’s expense for the prevention, treatment, control, and management of the coronavirus infection. “The municipality requested the health minister to purchase the vaccines after it took necessary action to procure vaccines from India at its own expense,” Thapa said.

During the meeting, the mayor stated that he would deduct the remuneration and other facilities he receives, development budgets and salaries of the people’s representatives in order to purchase vaccines for the people living within the municipality.
Mayor Thapa said that talks are currently underway to purchase 50,000 doses of vaccine from three Indian companies. Frontline workers in the rural municipality have already received their second dose of vaccine. The municipality is now moving forward with a vision to vaccinate all people living in the municipality area.
According to Rampur Municipality, Health Minister Hridayesh Tripathi has assured them to provide financial and technical assistance for the purchase and storage of the vaccines.
