KATHMANDU, Sept 16: ‘Ramkahani’ is a love story of Maya (Pooja Sharma) and Ram (Aakash Shrestha). Sharma and Shrestha appear as the lead character of the film in which Jitu Nepal (Janardan) appear as the obstacle of their love life, and as the only antagonist.
The lead actors have found effective support from their
co-actors Kedar Ghimire, Wilson Bikram Rai and Rabindra Jha who play the roles of Aakash’s friends.
Dashain aayo (again)
Ram is a tourist guide and Maya runs a homestay where both of them fall in love. The movie revolves around their love story but contains numerous twists and turns.
Ram and his friends are shown as hostages in an unnamed Arabian country in the beginning of the movie. The group is eventually freed, and all of them return to their village. Like the Arabian country, the movie didn’t find it necessary to name the village either.
The storyline of the film is intense to a great extent, but Ram’s acquaintances find a way to include humor amid the intensity. The love story of Ram and Maya is the highlight of the first half. Its only song; ‘Timro Lagi Ma Chu’ elevates the level of romance in the film.
The second half, however, takes an unpredictable twist with a series of supernatural events. But the paranormal activities overshadow the love saga of the first half. The mixture of two tales does nothing but confuses the audiences. Nonetheless, it's advisable that you remain seated till the end to clear off the confusion.
The movie has tried including different styles of cinema into a single film. In a nutshell, as the title suggests, the movie is also confusing.
