KATHMANDU, May 21: Western and local winds are currently influencing the country's weather. The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology issued a weather update for Wednesday.
The MFD stated that western and local winds, along with moisture-laden air from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, will affect weather conditions across various provinces.
Windstorm with rainfall likely today
In the Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces, the Himalayan region will see partly to generally cloudy skies during the day and night, with chances of light snowfall at a few locations. Hilly and Terai areas will also experience cloudy weather, with light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some places.
Madhesh and Lumbini provinces will experience partly to generally cloudy skies in the Terai region during the day and night, with light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at one or two places. Clouds will cover Lumbini's mountainous region, and rain may fall in the hilly areas.
In Karnali province, clouds will persist over the mountainous region throughout the day and night, and light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning may occur at some places in the hilly areas.
The MFD has urged people to stay cautious because rain, snowfall, and thunderstorms could disrupt daily life, agriculture, health, and road and air transportation.
