Rain, snowfall forecasted

KATHMANDU, Jan 21: The Meteorological Forecasting Division has forecasted rain and snowfall due to the impacts of the westerly low-pressure system.

 According to the Division, there is a possibility of light rainfall in the western parts as well as light to moderate snowfall in high-hilly areas of the western belt of the country. Meteorologist Manju Basi said that there is a possibility of rain and snowfall today as the westerly low-pressure system has developed from the western part of Nepal since Monday.

Basi said, "Western part of the country would remain partial to fully cloudy and light to moderate snowfall is predicted at high-hilly areas of west and central part of the country today due to impacts of the system." The sky at the western part has now remained generally cloudy while skies at other parts are partly cloudy. Most of Tarai areas witnessed thick fog in the morning and the weather will become clear in the afternoon gradually, according to the Division. The western part, as well as high-hilly areas of the mid and eastern part of the country, would remain generally cloudy to fully cloudy tonight.

However, the weather in the eastern and central parts of the country would remain clear tonight. The weather across the nation would be clear and Tarai areas will witness foggy weather on Wednesday.

The western part of the country would remain partly to generally cloudy as well as the weather at other parts would be generally clear on Thursday, it is said. As per the latest detail of the Division, today's minimum temperature of Kathmandu Valley is 1.5 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is 17.2 degrees Celsius.
