KATHMANDU, May 20: Westerly and local winds are currently influencing the country, with a partial impact of moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology under the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) reports that skies across the country remain partly to generally cloudy. One or two places in each province witness light rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Windstorm with rainfall likely today

In the afternoon, clouds will partly to generally cover the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and other provinces, while the rest of the country will remain partly cloudy. Thunderstorms with light to moderate rain are likely to occur in a few places within the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini, as well as in one or two places elsewhere.
At night, clouds will partly to generally cover the hilly regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and other areas, while the rest of the country will see mostly clear to partly cloudy skies. One or two places in the high-hill and mountainous regions may receive light rain and snowfall. Strong winds may also blow through a few places in the Terai regions of Koshi Province and Madhesh.
The MFD urges the public to prepare and exercise caution, as thunder, lightning, and gusty winds accompanied by light to moderate rainfall in a few places across the country may disrupt daily life, agriculture, health, roads, and air transportation.
