Quality of community school should be improved-President Bhandari

BUTWAL, Feb 5: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said the citizens should be availed of benefits from the state investments in education sector. 

Inaugurating the golden jubilee ceremony of the Haraiya Secondary School located in the rural area of Rupandehi district on Saturday, President Bhandari stressed the need for the state to spur investment for the advancement of education sector. 

She also laid the emphasis of providing education to the children accordingly as it has direct bearing on the peace, development and fraternity. "It is the utmost need to improve quality of community school where most of the students of the country study in a way to make it more employment oriented", President Bhandari added. 

Education is the foundation of the national development, she said while underlining the need to increase investment to education sector for the sustainable development of the country. "There is a need to increase state investment in applied and practical education in the context when the state has only appropriated 4.5 per cent of the total budget in the sector", the President further said. 

Underscoring the essence of implementation of Lumbini Master Plan, completion of under construction International Airport and accomplishing the Buddha circuit related works for tourism development of the country, she said, "Lumbini is the fountain of global peace; its publicity should be made massive to draw international tourists from different countries across the globe". 

Calling for all sides to put efforts from their side to end social anomalies, she said the campaign of women here towards reducing gender-based violence is laudable. She also emphasized the need of modernization and commercialization of agriculture sector and promoting domestic products towards the path to prosperity. 

On the occasion, President Bhandari honoured Mohan Bahadur Roka, Harikala Thapa, Tilak Chandra Thapa, Thakurram Jaisi and Lal Bahadur Hamal for their financial contribution to the school development. RSS
