KATHMANDU, Sept 2: The Qatar government has announced that it will allow three months beginning from September 1 for undocumented workers to leave the country without facing legal consequences. Following the decision, migrant workers who were residing in Qatar without legal permission will be able to return to their home countries.

Qatari authorities said that the undocumented workers have to submit a valid passport or travel document issued by the embassy (if passport is unavailable), for departing the country during the amnesty period. Similarly, they have also been asked to submit open or reserve tickets after three working days and a copy of identity cards and entry visas, to initiate the process.

It is reported that many Nepali migrants have been unable to return as their employers have confiscated their passports and other documents.
