Daya Hang Rai and Priyanka Karki in a still from upcoming Nepali movie ‘Purano Dunga’.
KATHMANDU, Oct 20: Daya Hang Rai and Priyanka Karki starrer ‘Purano Dunga’ has released its trailer on Wednesday. Considered one of the most awaited Nepali movies of this year, the film has been directed by Ram Babu Gurung who had previously made two successful films – ‘Kabaddi’ and its sequel ‘Kabaddi Kabaddi’.
Set in Pokhara, the story of ‘Purano Dunga’ revolves around two brothers (Daya Hang Rai and Maotse Gurung). The elder brother, played by Gurung, is a boatman working around the Begnas Lake in Pokhara while Rai is his renegade younger brother living in the city. The film portrays the siblings’ rivalry to get hold of an old boat that happens to be a family heirloom.
“Viewers will find the story, setting and characters very unique and new,” said Gurung, who had penned the film’s screenplay with his regular collaborator Upendra Subba.
The rest of the cast includes Menuka Pradhan, DB Gurung, Sudam CK, Buddhi Tamang, Puskar Gurung, Sajan Thapa and Maniram Pokhrel among others. Cinema Art Nepal and Maotse Gurung Films have jointly produced the film. Shailendra D Karki has shot the film while Nimesh Shrestha has edited it.
The film is set to release on November 25. The song ‘Nira’ from the film’s soundtrack has gone on to become a viral hit after it was released couple of months back.
