NSJF President Niranjan Rajbanshi and Hansaraj and Hulaschand Executive Director Shekhar Golchha signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.
As per the agreement, Hansaraj and Hulaschand will provide a support of Rs 900,000 for the purpose. The award will be named as Bajaj Pulsar Sports Award 2010. As per the deal, the sponsor will provide Rs 650,000 in cash and gifts worth Rs 250,000 for the award winners.
Eight different categories are included in this edition of the award ceremony. This year NSJF has added Para-athlete award. Other awards include-Bajaj Pulsar Best Male Player of the year, Female Player, Youth Player, Coach, Special Award, Lifetime Achievement Award and Popular Player of the Year.
Five best sports figures in each of the four categories -- male, female, youth and coach -- will be nominated for the award by the selection committee coordinated by NSJF Secretary Mahesh Acharya. The meeting of the NSJF executive committee on the same day of award ceremony will finalize the winners.
There will not be nominations for Special Award, Lifetime Achievement Award and Para-athlete. The Popular Player of the Year will be selected through SMS voting among seven nominees. The awards will be given to sportspersons and institutions adjudging their achievement and role in the sports arena.
Addressing the function, Hansaraj and Hulaschand Company´s Executive Director Shekhar Golchha said they were committed toward the development of sports and said that the sponsorship deal may be extended in future.
Meanwhile, NSJF President Rajbanshi said that the award function was aimed at developing Nepali sports. He, however, said that the award alone would not help change the face of Nepali sports and sportspersons.
