KATHMANDU, Aug 27: Students of the Pulchowk Engineering Campus have taken a unique approach to protest against engineering fee hike and corruption issues by performing a Hawan (a religious ritual).
The students organized a symbolic protest by performing 'Buddhi Shuddhi Hawan' in front of the Dean's Office on Sunday, demanding the withdrawal of the decision to hike the fee by Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering (IOE).

Moreover, on Sunday, the students affiliated to the Free Students Union (FSU) gathered and surrounded the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar, shouting slogans with posters and placards.
Their primary demands include ensuring uniform standards for engineering education across all universities, immediate withdrawal of the unscientific and irrelevant 144 percent fee increment implemented by the IOE, and an increase in grants by establishing both the University and IOE as centers of excellence.
The IOE had released a notice on August 21 announcing the increased fees for bachelor's level programs in engineering.
