KATHMANDU, Feb 1: A meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Bagmati Province on Monday decided to declare a public holiday on the occasion of Sonam Lhosar and Nwagi festival on February 2.
The provincial government has decided to announce a public holiday across the province on the occasion of Sonam Lhosar, which is celebrated by the Tamang and the Hyolmo communities and Nwagi festival, a major occasion for the Chepang community, spokesperson for the provincial government, Krishna Prasad Sharma said.

The government has decided to declare a holiday in all 13 districts of Bagmati Province for Lhosar and in districts with a high population of the Chepang community including Dhading, Chitwan and Makwanpur.
Similarly, Bagmati Rural Municipality, Raksirang Rural Municipality and Bakaiya Rural Municipality of Makwanpur have also issued notices declaring a public holiday on the occasion of Sonam Lhosar.
