KATHMANDU, Nov 16: The Provincial Assembly meeting of Province 1 has been postponed after the lawmakers belonging to CPN-UML party denied attending the meeting.

The main opposition party had demanded the postponement of today’s session saying that their members of parliament were unable to attend the meeting due to the general strike called by the Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN.

Earlier, the UML lawmakers had announced that they would not attend the session as many province assembly members of the party could not arrive in Biratnagar to take part in the meeting due to the nationwide strike.

The next meeting has been called for tomorrow (Wednesday) at 11:30 AM.

Chief Minister of Province 1 Rajendra Kumar Rai was scheduled to take a vote of confidence in the Province Assembly meeting today.
